I have taken an additional step with regard to fraud protection from your advisors. We have our retirement money in 2-3 accounts with each being at a different company (T-Rowe Price, Fidelity, etc). In the unlikely event that a "Madoff" type fraud should ever hit one of these companies, at least all our money would not be affected. The stories are entire nesteggs being wiped out were very scary.
