Thanks for this, I'll definitely look into those places to find a card! I sent you a message on Twitter, but wanted to say again I love the 50/30/20 budget calculator on MSN! It's great!

You want a card that reports to all three credit bureaus and that doesn't charge application fees and other nonsense. So a major bank card is often the way to go, although check with your local credit union as well to see if it has an option that would work for you. (CUs tend to have better rates and lower fees.)

Thanks! This really helps! I was very confused! Another question I was wondering about, are bank secured credit cards a good way to go or should I look into another company?

Hey, Steph. Good for you for getting your "must haves" below 50%. If you have consumer debt (credit cards or personal loans) or aren't saving enough for retirement, that's where the extra money should go first. If you're good on those counts, then you can put the extra into "wants." Hope that helps.

In regards to the 50, 30, 20 budget. I have created my budget using this model. A few quick questions. Is it correct to assume that if I am underbudget in my "must have" expenses, that that money should stay in that budget, as well if I am over budget in the other categories?

Also, as of now, I am below the 30% amount that I need for my "wants" budget. How do I add money to that category to build up that stash? At first, I thought I took what was leftover from my must have" expenses and place that in the "wants," but I suspected that was wrong.

Thank you!
